Frequently Asked Questions

In what format should I send the scanned files?

In what DPI should the paper original be scanned?

Can I mail the paper originals?

What kind of turnaround time is expected?

Do you follow your own CAD standards or those which we prescribe?

How can I send the original if an in-house scanner is not available?

Can I use fax machine to send the originals?

How can payment be made?

How different does the drawing look if done offshore?

Do you spell-check your drawings?

  1. The files can be sent in virtually any graphic file format, such as TIFF. For color JPEG / GIF formats are better.

  2. The paper if scanned at 150 DPI, is able to display almost the entire information visible on the sheet.

  3. Yes, you can mail or courier your paper originals/copies to our Bombay office address in India (or to our UK office). Ordinary mail from US takes about 10 -15 days to reach us in India, while the courier takes about 2-3 working days.  The turnaround time could be as low as 12 hours.

  4. We set up CAD standards as furnished by the client. However in absence of prescribed standards we use default standards conforming to AIA.

  5. You can either utilize the services of a blueprint shop who normally have a scanner, or mail the originals by courier to our office (UK office) and we will get them scanned.

  6. Yes, you can. Cut the original sheet into long strips of 8½" size and fax it to our fax numbers in UK or India. The width may be increased or decreased so that important information like text and dimensions are clear. This works in 80% of the drawings.

  7. Payment can be made in $ or £ via check mailed directly to India (UK), or by wire transfer to our bankers. The smller amount can be remitted to us through Credit card on getway integrated on our web site.

  8. As we use the standards furnished to us, or default AIA standards, the drawing is the same or better.

  9. We not only spell-check but also proof read the drawing.

Difference between Raster and Vector files?

  1. A raster image is a drawings photograph. If you look closely you see that it is made up of lots of small dots. The density of these dots is referred to by resolution, measured in dots per inch (stated as 'dpi'). The more the density of dots, i.e. greater the "dpi" clearer will be the image. Raster files are stored in many file formats, e.g. TIFF, GIF, RLC.

  2. Vectors are used to describe specific objects defining their size, position and geometry. The image seen on screen in a CAD application is only a visual representation of the vector data. The vector information in a CAD file is mathematical. It is not stored as an image.

  3. Vector information is stored in many different file formats, one of which is DXF. The primary function of the DXF file is to permit CAD vector information to be exchanged between different CAD applications.
